Unibuddy Programme IAESTE UK
Role description
The Unibuddy Programme is designed for UK students to support international students coming for a mobility in the UK. As a Unibuddy person, your role will be to support the integration of designated international students during their mobility in the United Kingdom.
You will be the main contact person before and during the mobility of the student(s) allocated to you. You will be able to welcome them when they arrive in the country, show them the main locations of your city, answer any questions they may have during their stay about your city.
Main duties
- Communicate with individuals before the arrival to answer their questions before coming to the UK.
- Welcome allocated students at their accommodation on their arrival in the UK.
- Organise a quick tour to the city to show them the main locations of your city and key areas such as: supermarket, work place, buses, sport centre if relevant, etc.
- Answer questions of your allocated student(s) during their mobility.
You must
- Be living in the UK during your time as a Unibuddy.
- Be social and a good communicator.
- Stay in communication with IAESTE UK about any relevant information regarding international students.
- Be available for allocated individuals.
Remuneration
Supporting an individual student coming for a mobility:
For each individual you support, a £100 in the form of a voucher will be delivered to you either as an Amazon or a Tesco voucher. This is up to the individual and will be decided on the signature of the Unibuddy Programme with IAESTE UK.
Supporting a group of students coming for a mobility:
You will get a £100 voucher + £15 per student arriving as a group mobility and allocated to you. The voucher will be delivered either as an Amazon or a Tesco voucher. This is up to the individual and will be decided on the signature of the Unibuddy Programme with IAESTE UK.
Selection process
- If you are interested in the Unibuddy programme, we will send you further information via email to submit your application to IAESTE UK.
- Fill in the application for the Unibuddy programme stating
- Your location
- Availability date
- Your current status: student, graduate, university staff, or other
- Your personal statement: Why do you want to be part of the Unibuddy programme?
- We will organise an interview with you to understand your motivation and explain further your implication as a Unibuddy person for IAESTE UK.
- We will send you a commitment agreement to fix the date you wish to be the dedicated Unibuddy for your city and the choice of your remuneration.
